The South Congress region of Austin is known for embracing individuality and independent businesses. Living here puts you in the middle of one of the coolest places in the country when it comes to the “go local” mentality. Austin shopping is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. South Congress is full of all kinds of shops, from fashion to food, though its boutiques have earned both local and national media attention. According to the city’s tourism department, officials estimate nearly 2,000 food trucks will be in operation by this fall. Botticelli’s serves classic Italian fare with a twist. Dine outside on the dog-friendly patio while enjoying live music and drinks. Perla’s is a seafood and oyster bar that features a spacious dining room with a saltwater fish tank and a patio shaded by giant oak trees. The seafood-centric menu features dishes with fresh fish and seafood sourced from the Gulf of Mexico.
